As a District Nurse with over 30 years service, I have seen many changes as a service we have become more professional and skilled. However this is not reflected in other service users proscription of the service. Within my team we have a wonderful admin support worker we do need to have guidelines on safe staffing levels as I have started my day with 13 calls to complete in 8 hours but being a Band 6 I’m also on call and you may have as many as another 8 extra calls to complete as the rest of your team is at its capacity you don’t share them. More user friendly mobile devices would have a positive impact as we attend calls without any prior knowledge of risks to patient or staff.
